At Las Golondrinas, the El Rancho Matachines perform. Here a dancer holds his Palma (palm leaf), a fan-like wand waved in time to the music during the dance. His elaborate headress is called a Cupil and often said to resemble a bishop\'s miter or an Aztec emperor\'s crown.
