    On April 18, 1816, Governor Maynez clearly defined the rights and boundaries of the Taos grant, in response to a request to eject trespassers made by the Governor of the Pueblo of Taos, Jose Francisco Lujan. The office of the Surveyor General later confirmed the grant for 17,360 acres in 1858.
