Montezuma, New Mexico is located six miles northwest of Las Vegas, New Mexico.  The site of a natural hot spring, Julian and Antonio Donaldson received a grant in 1841 for the land, and established a bath house in 1846.  The community was also known as "Las Vegas Hot Springs."  In the 1880s, the Montezuma Hotel was built and still stands today.
