EUGENIO ROMERO, merchant and contractor, (Rep,) delegate San Miguel Co.; b. Santa Fe, N. M. Nov. 12, 1837; s. of Miguel and Josefa (Delgado) Romero; private educ. Santa Fe Co.; engaged in freighting and mercantile business in Las Vegas, 1855, on old Santa Fe Trail; owns lumber yards and stores in Santa Fe, Estancia, Moriarty, Duran and Vaughn; extensively engaged in stock raising and tie contracting; most of life has been contracting government supplies and ties for railroads; mem. New Mex. House of Rep, 1860; sheriff and collector San Miguel Co., 1879-1881; assessor San Miguel Co., 1881-3; mayor Las Vegas, 1882-6; mem. terr. senate, 1899; treas, and collector San Miguel Co., 1903-11; terr. coal oil inspector, 1905-7; mem. exec committee terr. Rep. Central Comm.; elected Nov. 7, 1911, as first treas. and collector, San Miguel Co., under state govt.
