Roberts; educ. pub. schools Jefferson Co.; taught school from time he was 16 and at same time attended college; admitted to practice law in Indiana at age of 21; removed to Trinidad, Colo., 1905, and purchased Trinidad Advertiser; at same time practiced law; removed to Raton, N. M., 1907, 25 as asst. gen. counsel Santa Fe, Raton & Des Moines Ry. and allied interests; asst. prosecuting atty. Jefferson Co., Ind., 1894-6; pros. atty. 5th jud. circuit, Ind., 1896-8; county atty., Jefferson Co., 1900-5; mem.
