CLARENCE J. ROBERTS, attorney; associate justice New Mexico Supreme Court, (Rep.) delegate Colfax Co.; b. Oct. 21, 1873, Jefferson Co., Ind.; s. of D. A., and Perintha E. Roberts; educ. pub. schools Jefferson Co.; taught school from time he was 16 and at same time attended college; admitted to practice law in Indiana at age of 21; removed to Trinidad, Colo., 1905, and purchased Trinidad Advertiser; at same time practiced law; removed to Raton, N. M., 1907, 25 as asst. gen. counsel Santa Fe, Raton & Des Moines Ry. and allied interests; asst. prosecuting atty. Jefferson Co., Ind., 1894-6; pros. atty. 5th jud. circuit, Ind., 1896-8; county atty., Jefferson Co., 1900-5; mem. New Mex. house of Rep., 1909; appointed to New Mexico Supreme Court, 1910; elected Nov. 7, 1911. as mem. and chief justice first State Supreme Court; mem. Elks, I. O. O. F;   I. O. R.
