THOMAS D. BURNS, banker, merchant and stockraiser, (Rep.) delegate Rio Arriba Co.; b. Waterford Co., Ireland, Oct. 15, 1844; came to the U.S. in 1855 and located in Wisconsin; early educ. pub.schols Wisconsin; removed to Colorado, 1869; clerked in store in Denver; was in charge of commissary dept. Fort Union, N. M. , 1863, and was then in business in Conejos, Colorado, until 1863; removed to Tierra Amarilla, New Mex., 1865, and established a mercantile business; pres. Burns National Bank, Durango, Colo.; owner of general mdse. stores in Tierra Amarilla, Park View, Conjelon, Blanco, N. M., and Ignacio, Colo; mem New Mexico terr. senate five tems; county com. Rio Arriba Co.; mem. Terr. Rep. Central Comm.; elected Nov. 7, 1911, as member first state senate from 4th District.
